Much Needed Vacation

Posted by webexplorer on 28th June 2006

I know I haven’t been as faithful in blogging as I had hoped to be. Life seems to happen :-) Tomorrow morning I am leaving on a much needed vacation with a tall, dark, and handsome stranger I vaguely recognize as my husband. If you thought I was busy, you apparently haven’t met my husband ~ mechanical engineer by day, volunteer firefighter by night. We will be gone for ten glorious days. We are headed north~to Alaska! During our trip we will be visiting Juneau, Skagway, and the Icy Strait region. We have plans to pan for gold and whale watch, as well as visiting a musher’s camp and do some dogsledding! For years I have taught a unit on the Iditarod to my class. After all these years of following mushers along the trail, having a musher visit our class with sled dogs, and having an Iditarod vet visit our class, I will finally get to actually experience dogsledding myself! I am so psyched! Well, until I return!

Launching wiki~TheWebExplorer

Posted by webexplorer on 12th June 2006

I know it has been awhile since I’ve had any new posts on my blog. The best I can say is “Life Happens!” School got very hectic towards the end and within my district there has been a lot of teachers being moved around. Hectic and chaotic doesn’t really cover it!

Well, the good news is I am back and more than ready to blog and try my hand at maintaining a wiki. The topic for my wiki will hopefully help me in my thesis project for my Master’s program. My topic is Multimedia and Web Tools to Enhance Literacy (in Elementary Classrooms). Please visit my wiki and feel free to add any information, ideas, or links that you may have that you think might be helpful. I cannot think of a better way to collaborate on a topic that is near and dear to my heart as I am sure it is to a lot of you out there.
